My broker connection fails: what we check before you write in

This is the first wall, and it almost always comes down to one of these. Here they are, in the order we check them.

THE WRONG LOGIN. A demo account and a live account often differ by a single digit, and many brokers hand out several. The one that works is the login shown INSIDE the platform, not the one you received when the account was opened.

THE INVESTOR PASSWORD. MetaTrader has two: the one that can place orders, and the one that can only read. The second is what belongs here, and that is deliberate: nobody should be able to place an order on your behalf, us included. The main password is often refused by the broker itself anyway.

THE SERVER. This is the field that fails most. Its exact name is written in the platform, it looks like "Broker-Live07" or "Broker-Demo", and a single wrong character gives you a refusal with no explanation. Copy it, do not retype it.

THE BROKER THAT BLOCKS OUTSIDE CONNECTIONS. Some close them by default, and the permission is granted on their side, not ours. When that is the case, no setting here will change anything.

THE ACCOUNT OPENED TODAY. A brand new account is sometimes not reachable from outside yet. There is nothing to fix, it just needs a little time.

If none of this fits, write to us. At that point we treat it as ours, and we want to know. The message that saves the most time gives the broker name, the account type, and the time you tried.

Trading involves a risk of loss, up to the entire capital committed. Tradoshi is a journaling and analytics tool: we provide no financial advice and guarantee no result. Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor: an investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment, and only risk capital should be used for trading. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations: they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight, involve no financial risk, and no representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve similar results. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Full risk disclosure.
