Comparison
Trading journal: Notion or Tradoshi?
Notion trading journal templates are everywhere, often free, and some are very well made. Notion is excellent at its job, which is organising information. This page is not here to say otherwise: it says what a document structurally cannot do, and when that starts being a problem for a trader.

Every price on this page is in dollars, on both sides, and no exchange rate is applied. Notion prices are per person and vary by billing period; their page prevails over this one. They were read on 2 August 2026.
Comparing prices makes no sense here, since Notion is not sold as a trading journal: these are templates, often free, sitting on a notes tool. The real comparison is elsewhere. A Notion template is a document: it holds what you write into it, and nothing else. It cannot fetch your trades, recompute your risk, or warn you about anything.
2. The partner offer, in months of revenue
Notion has an affiliate program, but it covers a productivity tool, not a trading journal. Recommending one does not rule out the other.
Our schedule is public and pays from the first customer: 15% for life, 20% at fifteen active subscribers, 25% at fifty-one, on every payment collected.
Comparing two percentages means nothing while the durations differ. The honest unit is months of the referred customer's revenue: it neutralises both the product price and the commission duration. Read it as: for a customer who stays N months, the partner has earned the equivalent of X months of that customer's revenue.
| Program | Stays 6 months | Stays 12 months | Stays 24 months | Stays 36 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tradoshi 15% (from the 1st customer) | 0.90 | 1.80 | 3.60 | 5.40 |
| Tradoshi 20% (15 customers and up) | 1.20 | 2.40 | 4.80 | 7.20 |
| Tradoshi 25% (51 customers and up) | 1.50 | 3.00 | 6.00 | 9.00 |
The table only holds our rows: the two products are not comparable, and putting both programs side by side would teach nothing.
On our side, the commission lands on every payment collected, with a 30-day holding period and a €500 payout threshold.
3. Mentoring, and who pays for whom
In Notion, sharing your journal with a mentor is technically simple: you share the page. The problem is not the sharing, it is what is inside. The mentor sees what the student chose to retype, with the omissions and typos, and with no statistics they can cross-check.
At Tradoshi, the mentor account is free, and it shows trades as the broker returned them: P&L, fees, stop, timestamps. Nothing was retyped, so nothing was tidied up.
This is the most underestimated limit. A student entering their journal by hand mostly omits what bothers them, and rarely out of dishonesty: the trade you would rather not revisit is simply the one you do not enter. A synced journal has no such modesty.

4. The full comparison, feature by feature
Every line comes from both public pricing pages, read on the same day. Nothing is pulled from a help centre on one side and a grid on the other: on unequal evidence, a comparison stops being honest. “Absent from the grid” means exactly that, not “does not exist”.
What Notion does very well
And we should start there, because it is true. Notion is an excellent tool, simply not a trading tool.
| What is compared | Notion | Tradoshi |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free for personal use | $19.99 to $49.99/mo |
| Flexibility | Total: your fields, your views | Fixed structure |
| Available templates | Hundreds, often free | Not applicable |
| Journal, notes and plan in one place | Yes | Journal and notebook, not your second brain |
| Layout and reading comfort | Excellent | Fine |
What a document cannot do
These are not missing features a better template would fill. They are things beyond the reach of a document, however talented its designer.
| What is compared | Notion | Tradoshi |
|---|---|---|
| Fetch your trades from your broker | Impossible | 2,000+ brokers, automatic |
| Know your fees, commissions and swaps | Only if you type them | Supplied by the broker |
| Compute R-multiple, MFE and MAE | Beyond a Notion database | Computed on every trade |
| Track a prop firm drawdown continuously | Impossible | Challenge tracking |
| Warn you during the session | Impossible | Live session (Premium) |
| Hear what state you are in | Impossible | Voice check-in, emotion detection |
The perfect-template trap
The least visible limit is not technical, it is human: a template gets polished, and polishing feels a lot like working.
| What is compared | Notion | Tradoshi |
|---|---|---|
| Time spent building the tool | High, and never finished | None |
| Entry after a losing session | That is when people stop | The trade arrives without you |
| Omitted trades | Invisible: nothing flags a gap | The broker returns them all |
| Statistics reliability | Depends entirely on your typing | Comes from the source |

5. What we concede to Notion
A comparison won on every single line is not a comparison, it is an advert. Here are the points where Notion is ahead, with nothing taken off.
The verdict
A Notion template and an automatic journal are not competing for the same place. Notion is where you write, and it is excellent at that: your plan, your notes, your rules, your research. Tradoshi is where your figures arrive, without you typing them, with the fees, the stop and the timestamps as the broker returned them. The tipping point is easy to spot, and it has nothing to do with feature counts: it is the day you stop entering the trade that hurt. From that day your journal stops telling the truth, and a prettier template will not change it.
Frequently asked questions
Does a trading journal in Notion actually work?
Yes, as long as you fill it in. Notion is excellent for writing, linking and retrieving information, and very good free templates are around. Its limits are not about quality, they are about nature: a document holds what you type into it, and nothing else.
What will a Notion template never do?
Six things, whatever the template: fetch your trades from your broker, know your fees and swaps, compute your R-multiple and your MFE and MAE, continuously track a prop firm drawdown, warn you during the session, and hear what state you are in before you click.
Which one is cheaper?
Notion, no argument. A journal template fits in its free tier, and its Plus plan is $10 per person per month for features unrelated to trading. Tradoshi starts at $19.99 per month.
Can I keep Notion and use Tradoshi?
Yes, and it is the most common setup among traders who improve. Notion for the plan, the rules and market notes. Tradoshi connected to the broker for the figures, the statistics and the discipline.
Why is manual entry a problem?
Not for the time it takes, but for what it leaves out. The trade you would rather not revisit is exactly the one you do not enter, and nothing in a document flags that it is missing. A synced journal returns them all, including the ones you would have deleted.

Every figure attributed to Notion was read on 2 August 2026 on its own public pages, in the served HTML, and not taken from a third-party comparison: www.notion.com/pricing. The “absent from the grid” statements were obtained by counting term occurrences in the served page, not by eye. The months-of-revenue values are computed from the published schedules on both sides, month by month, not typed by hand. A publisher's pricing changes without notice, and this one raised all three of its plans overnight on 16 July 2026: when in doubt, the publisher's own page prevails over this one.
