Backtesting and replay

Replay plays history back candle by candle, without showing what comes next, and lets you take decisions as you would live. Trades taken this way are recorded and analysed with the same statistics as your real trades, which lets you compare the two populations.

The formula

Replay the market candle by candle and test a strategy risking nothing, at market or on limit orders (tick value and slippage simulated).

How to read it

To validate an idea on history before risking real capital. Your sessions and their stats are saved.

Replay exists to accumulate cases faster than real time allows: fifty occurrences of a setup gather in one evening instead of six months. That is its real value, far more than validating a hunch.

The classic mistake

Confusing replaying the underlying with simulating a derivative. Tradoshi replays candles: it does not reconstruct an option chain with its premiums and implied volatility, and it says so rather than pretending.
