Connect Interactive Brokers (IBKR) to Tradoshi

Before you start

• You need an active IBKR account and access to the Client Portal.
• The connection uses two values you create at IBKR: a Flex Token and a Query ID. This guide shows you where to find them.
• IBKR delivers trades at D+1: today's trades show up tomorrow (a broker limitation, common to every trading journal).

Log in at interactivebrokers.com → Client Portal. In the menu, open Performance & Reports → Flex Queries.

In the Activity Flex Query panel, click + to create a query and name it Tradoshi. Configure it like this:

• Sections: open Trades and check everything (Select All, type “Executions”).
• Recommended: also add Cash Transactions (deposits/withdrawals, for exact ROI), Account Information, Forex P&L Details, and if you trade CFDs: CFD Charges + Transaction Fees.
• Format: XML · Period: “Last 365 Calendar Days”.
• ⚠️ IBKR never delivers more than 365 days per query. An account that has not traded for over a year will therefore come back empty, even if it traded a lot before that: the query period decides, not your history. To import older trades, create one extra query per year using a custom date range, and connect it the same way.
• General configuration: leave everything as default (date yyyyMMdd, time HHmmss, semicolon separator, the Yes/No toggles on “No”).

Click Continue and save.

Back on the list, click the ⓘ icon next to your “Tradoshi” query: the query number shown at the top is your Query ID (e.g. 1572283).

On the same Flex Queries page, open the Flex Web Service Configuration block (⚙ gear). Enable the service, then generate a verification code: that long string of digits is your Flex Token. It's valid for about a year.

Don't restrict the token to an IP address (leave “Valid for IP address” empty), and leave the expiry at one year.

In Tradoshi: Import / Connect → + Add an account, search for Interactive Brokers.

Paste your Flex Token and your Query ID, then click Connect & sync. Your history arrives in seconds.

The Import since field is optional: leave it empty for the full history, or pick a date to journal only from that point on.

Several IBKR accounts?

A Flex Query covers a single account. If you have several, create one query per account and put the account number in its name (for example “Tradoshi U1234567”), then add them one by one in Tradoshi.

The same Flex Token works for all your queries: only the Query ID changes.

The IBKR direct feed, when Flex reports are not enough

Tradoshi is connected to Interactive Brokers' direct reporting service, alongside Flex reports. IBKR files the account statements there every business day, and Tradoshi reads them without you having to create or maintain any query.

What it brings that Flex cannot:

• The account balance. A Flex report only contains executions: it never says how much is on the account. The direct feed carries the cash, so a funded account with no trades stops showing as zero.
• History without the 365-day limit, delivered day by day, with no extra query to create per year.
• Positions and their lots, plus dividend accruals, which the Flex query does not expose by default.

How to get it, today: write to your IBKR sales representative, or to reportingintegration@interactivebrokers.com, giving your account number and asking for the Tradoshi Web Service feed. IBKR enables it and notifies you. This is the route IBKR itself points to.

That email is temporary: IBKR is preparing one-click activation from your own portal, with nothing to ask anyone. Until then, one message is enough and you only send it once.

Once open, IBKR shows your two values in the Client Portal, under Performance & Reports → Third-Party Reports → Third-Party Data Feeds, on the Tradoshi row: the verification code is the token, the query ID is the Query ID.

You paste them into the same form as above. Tradoshi works out which service it is on its own, you have nothing to choose. And if you already have a Flex query, you can keep both: they are two separate accounts in Tradoshi.

The token is the same as your Flex Web Service one: it belongs to your user, only the query ID changes between feeds. Regenerating it therefore cuts both at once.

Troubleshooting

• “No executions”: check the query period is “Last 365 Calendar Days” and remember today's trades only appear at D+1.
• 0 trades when your account has some: check the date of your last trade at IBKR. If it is older than 365 days the query returns nothing, and that is expected — there is nothing to fix on the Tradoshi side. Create a query with a custom date range covering that period.
• Invalid or expired token: regenerate a verification code under “Flex Web Service Configuration” and update it in Tradoshi.
• Can't find the Query ID: it's the query number in your query's ⓘ popup, not the token.
• Mixing the two values up: the Flex Token is a very long string of digits, the Query ID is 6 or 7 digits. Swap them and the connection fails with no further explanation.
• Brand-new account: IBKR needs at least one full day of delivered activity before the report contains anything.

Security: what Tradoshi can and cannot do

• Tradoshi never knows your IBKR credentials: the Flex token only gives access to reports.
• Read-only: impossible to place orders, touch your funds or change your account.
• Your token is encrypted server-side, never stored in plain text.
