Killzone

A killzone is a time window you declare as the only one where you take positions. The term comes from ICT methods, where it means the London and New York opening windows; in a journal it is more simply the window you chose, which then becomes verifiable.

The formula

The time windows where you allow yourself to trade (set in your profile, e.g. 9-11am and 2:30-5pm).

How to read it

Your timing discipline. Trading outside your killzone is often the first symptom of a plan going off the rails.

Split the expectancy of your in-window trades from your out-of-window ones. It is often the most profitable filter a journal surfaces, because it demands no new skill: it only demands not trading at certain hours.

The classic mistake

Taking ICT killzones as a universal truth. The hours that matter depend on your market and your method. The right window is the one your own data points at, not the one a course named.
