Capital.com strikes deal for FxPro's Cyprus-based European clients
Capital.com announced on 14 October 2026 an agreement to take over the client portfolio of FxPro Financial Services Ltd, the Cyprus entity that serves FxPro's European customers. The transfer will not be automatic, and several practical questions, including the timetable, remain open for affected clients.

Clients to move to Capital Com Group Ltd
Capital.com has reached an agreement to take over the European client base of FxPro, according to Finance Magnates, FX News Group and Good Money Guide. Finance Magnates broke the story as an exclusive on 14 October 2026 at 09:00 GMT, and the other two outlets followed the same day. The deal covers the portfolio of FxPro Financial Services Ltd, the group's Cyprus entity. Its clients are set to move to Capital Com Group Ltd, the European entity of Capital.com. Both companies are Cyprus investment firms supervised by CySEC.
The scope is limited to the European clients of the Cyprus entity. According to Good Money Guide and Finance Magnates, FxPro's operations outside Europe are not affected. The price paid by Capital.com and the financial terms of the deal have not been made public. The number of clients involved has not been disclosed either.
Clients screened against Capital.com's own criteria
The transfer will not happen automatically. Only clients who meet Capital.com's onboarding and risk criteria will be moved across. Each account will be assessed under the acquirer's own rules: client categorisation, appropriateness test, target market and identity verification (KYC). What happens to clients who fail these checks has not been specified, whether in terms of account closure, return of funds or timing.
“This step will strengthen our reach in Europe and once the transfer completes, will bring a well-established client base into the environment we have built for everyone who uses Capital.com,” said Christoforos Soutzis, Europe CEO of Capital.com.
Conflicting reports on CySEC approval
Media accounts differ on the regulatory status of the deal. Finance Magnates and Good Money Guide report that the agreement is still awaiting the Cypriot regulator's approval. FX News Group, by contrast, writes that the transfer follows CySEC's approval of the change of control and of client eligibility. LeapRate has flagged the discrepancy. No date has been given for the transfer or for completion.
The deal is part of a wider consolidation trend. It comes shortly after Trade Nation agreed to take over FXCM's UK clients and AvaTrade moved to acquire most of FXCM's other businesses. For Capital.com, which has been based in Cyprus since 2017 and serves its European clients from there, this is familiar territory: in 2023 it took over the client base of OvalX, formerly ETX Capital.
What it means for traders
Only accounts held with FxPro Financial Services Ltd would be in scope. FxPro clients therefore have good reason to check their account opening documents to see which group entity holds their account. The exact geographic scope (European Union or European Economic Area) has not been detailed.
Several practical points have not been addressed publicly:
- Open positions: how they will be handled at the switchover has not been specified, which could matter for positions held over several days and the related swaps.
- Platforms: nothing has been said about whether MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or cTrader accounts will be migrated or closed, or about installed robots and indicators.
- Trade history: there is no guarantee that history will carry over; exporting FxPro statements could prove useful for performance tracking and tax filings.
- Trading conditions: spreads, commissions, swaps and fees could differ between the two brokers.
- Right to opt out: no procedure for declining the transfer has been published.
Affected clients could be asked to supply new documents or complete a new questionnaire, and professional clients could be recategorised under Capital.com's criteria. Since both entities fall under CySEC, the applicable regulatory framework would in principle stay the same. Pending official communications from both brokers, caution is warranted against fraudulent messages that might exploit the deal to obtain login details or a payment.
